A Message from Megan Bowers Patterson
APPA Interim Executive Director
Today’s message is truly important to the future success of our organization, The American Psychedelic Practitioners Association. Thank you in advance for reading in its entirety.
Dear APPA members,
As we shared in previous communications and Town Halls, the time has come for APPA's introductory membership period to expire. This month, we ask you to become Sustaining Members of this community.
Like so many great stories, APPA’s origin story is reminiscent of the Hero’s and Heroine’s Journeys. APPA’s ethos of inclusivity and vision of a path to legitimacy for trained practitioners inspired many. Yet the organization has also been a crucible for some of the most challenging conversations our community has faced. Those challenges changed us over time. Acknowledgment is critical to the healing process, as is the dedication to growth.
With the recent restructuring of APPA’s team and priorities, we have the opportunity to use APPA's broad umbrella as a place to come together, reconstitute ourselves with new leadership, and walk forward more holistically and with the perspective and lessons these past years have afforded us.
The ongoing analysis of future viability has made certain realities clear, and they need to be addressed. This is the Association's next step toward self-sustainment, and we know that together we can succeed.
You are Invited to Join Us In This Pivotal Moment
Members, this is your call-to-action. It is with hope and dedication that we launch our Membership Renewal Drive from May 1 - June 15, 2024. Please renew your membership and support the ongoing sustainability of APPA, and continue with us on our new path as a primarily member-funded association.
This initiative is designed to build a self-sustaining financial structure for the Association, giving you - our members - a powerful voice, while APPA provides valuable benefits and opportunities to support your professional growth.
In this message, you will learn about board elections, our plans for guidelines projects, increased member benefits, discounts on malpractice and liability insurance plans, educational webinars, Community Discussion Circles, and more.
Your individual monthly membership dues of $25/month* is a critical building block of APPA’s collective Member Funding Goal of $15,000/month. Member dues are the foundation of our Sustainability Plan. *A sliding scale will be made available on a case-by-case basis to those in need.
Log into your Member Portal and Renew Membership today! Or simply click the Invoice link in the Renewal Message you will have received from the APPA Member Platform concurrently with this notice.
If we meet our goal by June 15, 2024, we will launch our Board Member Selection and Member Seat Nomination process at that time.
Please plan on joining us for the Community Discussion Circles - May 14th, 4pm PDT / 7pm EDT and May 21st, 2pm PDT / 5pm EDT. Details below!
Thank you for reading, and renewing your APPA Membership today!
With gratitude,
Megan Bowers Patterson, Interim Executive Director, and the APPA Team

What Does APPA Do with Member Dues?
Membership dues is a critical portion of support in sustaining APPA’s educational programs, membership benefits, representative actions, operations, and project goals. Your monthly contribution to this total is absolutely critical!
We are currently 1025 members strong, and standing together allows us to use our voice effectively in the halls of power as well as learn and grow together as a big-tent organization. We need to continue building our voice as new rules and regulations become laws so that we can impact the changes we feel are most important to the integrity of Psychedelic-Assisted Care. Your contribution matters.
Our Phase 1 monthly Member Sustainability Goal is 550-600 members, totaling approximately $15,000 per month. Join us, or renew your membership today!
