US PC Charts Feb. 8-14: Lich King conquers again
Weekly NPD Group PC charts typically are filled with the same items from week to the following week. For the February 8-February 14, the accounting periods, Warner Bros. Interactive and Monolith have disrupted the traditional lineup. F.E.A.R. 2. Project Origin has scored the second spot in NPD's weekly roundup of the top PC games. The feat was made possible even though the paranormal shooter was released on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation--not capturing reviewers in the same manner as the original game from 2004.
Apart from the F.E.A.R. 2 glitch, the week's most popular PC games did not fall into the usual slot. Blizzard entertainment's WoW Cataclysm Classic secured three spots, with the massively interactive online title's second update Wrath of the Lich King taking the top spot. In the WOW Battle Chest, which includes the original game as well as the first expansion, The Burning Crusade, scored fifth, while the standalone original took the seventh spot.
The EA Sims franchise also took the lead part of the PC chart. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe came in third place for this week, with The Sims 2 Deluxe coming in sixth, and The Sims 2 Apartment Life finishing at 10. Additionally, an Will Wright creation, EA's Spore won the fourth spot. Its competitor, Activision's WoW Cataclysm Classic placed eighth this week, while Bethesda Softworks' Fallout 3 was able to finish ninth.
WoW Cataclysm Classic Passes 900,000 Concurrent Steam Players
Amazon's latest PC MMO WoW Cataclysm Classic is performing superbly. A little over a week since its release it has achieved a new highest simultaneous player mark on Steam surpassing the 700,000 players it had registered simultaneously the first day.
The huge popularity of WoW Cataclysm Classic has led to long server lines and other problems. Amazon has nearly doubled the servers available for WoW Cataclysm Classic since launch and has increased the capacity of each server "to accommodate a larger capacity of people." The studio's team members have been working continuously to increase the number of servers and enhance the user experience online. "And we'll continue to work until we are able to stabilize waiting times" Amazon said.
Meanwhile, Amazon said new players who log on their first attempt could pick a server with minimal or no wait time - about 40 percent of servers have no or no wait time, Amazon said.
The company is developing a character transfer feature. It is expected to be completed this week, after it has been test-driven.For more guides and all the latest news about, check out mmoexp.com
